Frequently asked questions
How reliable is the coin value?
It is an automatically produced, non-binding orientation value: not an appraisal, not an authentication and not a buying price. Where a single figure would mislead, OWNY shows a range. For valuable pieces an appraisal is worth it.
Does OWNY recognise mis-strikes?
OWNY describes what shows on the photo. Whether a coin really is a mis-strike cannot be told for sure from a photo; a coin dealer or appraiser checks the piece itself.
What are my Deutsche Mark coins worth?
Most of them exactly their exchange value: the Bundesbank exchanges Deutsche Mark coins into euros free of charge and without a deadline, 1.95583 marks for 1 euro. More comes from coins with silver, such as 5-mark pieces up to 1974 and the 10-mark commemoratives, and from rare years with certain mint marks.
